It’s hard to explain,
just how I am feeling now,
it’s like a big weight.
I dream of islands,
far away and much warmer,
with the ocean near.
It has been a while,
since we all could really smile,
and have a good laugh.
England had done well,
and good to see them get through,
to Sunday’s final.

05/07/21 Toasties
Cheese and ham sandwich,
toasted with butter outside,
that is the best way.
Today is busy,
I’m off work but I’m working,
than ever before.
I hate washing up,
It’s like bathing for dishes,
and those pots and pans.
I’m getting set up,
music is a real passion,
that I love to do.
04/07/21 Fish Finger Sandwich
To all Twitter pals,
who check me out, say, hello!
and I will also.
Something is knocking,
in a creepy way outside,
just like in movies.
Tomorrow’s the day,
so why not procrastinate,
and enjoy today.
I am writing slow,
and then my mind has to stop,
to let it catch up.
Fish finger sandwich,
very tasty with mayo,
and good for dinner.
03/07/21 Old Friends
The things I recall,
silly things from those school days,
and the friends I had.
If they could see me,
and if I could see them too,
would it be the same?
I sure it would not,
I have tried and they have changed,
and so have I too.
I have travelled far,
near the moon and under sea,
in a desert place.
I was counting stars,
but lost count, so made it up,
there is lots of them.
02/07/21 A Big Fish
One thing that I have,
a big magnifying glass,
that has a bright light.
It is good for maps,
those old maps of London past,
of streets now long gone.
John Stow wrote a book,
called, ‘A survey of London’,
and a bedtime read.
I need a good rest,
a holiday or some leave,
just to write and sleep.
I caught a big fish,
from a little boat I did,
it was a snapper.
01/07/21 this or that
It is about this,
and it can be about that,
it’s just this or that.
it can be funny,
or it can be very sad,
but I like the first.
can you really trust,
some one short or some one tall?
maybe in between.
I do make mistake,
spelling is the worse of them,
I’ve perfected it.
30/06/21 Calling
No one likes haiku,
they’re short and lack real substance,
and quick to the point.
I hold on to dreams,
and don’t let them sail away,
over the horizon.
I have travelled far,
but not far enough for some,
and nether myself.
Someone is calling,
I hear my name repeated,
but I don’t reply.
29/06/21 Astray
I’m telling no lies,
so I need no alibies
just a little truth.
The days are merging,
lurching fat and clumsily,
but fast through the week.
The rain came today,
off and on and loudly,
beating on the panes.
I got far behind,
the one a day, gone astray,
and leaves me standing.
28/06/21 Running
Time’s running away,
stealing seconds without care,
and eats them quickly.
The water runs fast,
in the gutters like a stream,
and catching itself.
The clouds roll on past,
without a care, they drift by,
but do sometimes cry.
The trouble with bins,
they all need care once a week,
just a little walk.
27/06/21 Shrubs
The days run away,
too scared to stay for too long,
just in case time stops.
I’m doing research,
the family tree or shrub,
it has loads of twigs.
What’s a guitar chord?
I call a guitar, guitar!
three notes short of fun.
first, third and fifth notes,
makes a chord, go on try it,
and what’s a minor?
The minor is best,
flatten the third note and see,
the difference there.
