The Seaward Tale (part 8)

He kept himself low,
Wondering if he should go,
Or just remain there.

He hoped they’d go soon,
Sail away and bugger off,
And death find them soon.

He knew he must move,
Take the gold and relocate,
Somewhere far away.

So he crawled away,
Until he could stand and walk,
Back to the hideout.

He took on more load,
And set off into the woods,
And the other place.

It would be safer,
Easier to hide away,
And not be captured.

That would mean his death,
His neck slit or somthing grim.
He didn’t sleep much.

At the crack of dawn,
He set off back to the first camp,
And look for the ship.

He couldn’t see it now,
Maybe they had left or sunk,
But something bugged him,

He dug up more gold,
And quickly took it away,
To the other camp.

Leaving some gold there,
At the first site, a decoy,
keep them looking there.

He was tired now,
The evening was falling fast,
When he arrived back.

He hide the gold there,
In a pattern around the rocks,
And then fell asleep.
