I went to London,
I had some things to do there,
and then came back home.
We had a nice lunch,
of egg, bacon, and some toast,
and a mug of tea.
I bought an old book,
and I bought a new one too,
To read and to write.
The trains travelled fast,
and the journeys didn’t last,
and now it’s the past.
I got home at six,
and I drank a mug of tea,
with a few biscuits.
Month: August 2021
20/08/21 Digging a hole
I’m digging a hole,
and I am digging it deep,
right to the bottom,
I’ll know when I’m there,
and on the way I will rest,
ev’ry now and then.
On the way I find,
some things strange yet interesting,
like bones, coins and things.
I dogging a hole,
and I’m not collecting things,
so I leave them there.
19/08/21 Dozing
The sleep creeps up,
and wraps round its tentacles,
pulling you away,
The clouds are waiting,
all filled with different dreams,
some good and some are bad,
But you will not know,
until you are there drifting,
and floating through clouds.
They all seem so real,
but can shift erratically,
one cloud to the next.
And then you awake,
you have fallen through the clouds,
waking with a bump.
18/08/21 Recollections
It must work somehow,
a switch on the side maybe,
of just plug it in.
I recall the past,
with memories of beaches,
and being carefree.
Walks in the forests,
and camping out in the bush,
that was a good time.
It’s different now,
for the coast is far away,
and the bush is gone.
17/08/21 Dripping Tap
There’s a drip, drip, drip,
a sound from outside somewhere,
and a tap, tap, tap.
Do you want to buy,
this site and all it has on it,
and own for yourself?
I’m not sure I would,
even if I could that is,
and it won’t happen.
The puddle grew big,
where does the water come from,
Jim thought for a while.
It’s getting harder,
harder everyday that is,
to do all I can.
16/08/21 Dragon Egg
So, what is it then?
Peter asked curiously.
trying hard to see,
Sarah closed the box,
and pulled it away from him,
so he could not see.
She then opened it.
Inside there was a large egg,
sky blue and speckled.
What is it? He asked,
A dragons egg, we took it,
so we can train them.
Peter thought a bit,
then said, “so we can fight them”
He still was not sure.
15/08/21 Shadows Play
The thistles are out,
purple flowers looking good,
and attracting bees.
The glass is half full,
it always has been for me,
but it’s never full.
The sun is shining,
so brightly through the closed blinds,
where trees shadows play.
I live in the now,
for this moment, I’m present,
looking all around.
I go with bare feet,
in the house and in the street,
I would say, ‘It’s neat!”
14/08/21 TV time
Tea and coffee cold,
they have waited, both, too long,
but still taste so good.
It is Saturday,
and there are films on TV,
I can only watch.
The work’s left undone,
and lay in piles in the room,
sometimes they move on.,
I turn their pages,
and something comes to my mind,
that is scribbled down.
13/08/21 Friday thoughts
Some say it’s lucky,
others harbour doubts, and some fear,
Friday the thirteenth.
Here’s some simple things,
that may help you get along,
and be much better.
If you don’t pursue,
what you really want in life,
you will not get it.
If you do not ask,
the answer’s always the same,
and that answer’s no.
If you don’t step out,
you will not go anywhere,
but stay where you are.
12/08/21 Trips and Falls
I was exhausted,
from just one day in London,
but it was so hard.
I’m collecting thoughts,
but just my own thoughts, that is,
and taking stock now.
The path less trodden,
can be full of prickly thorns,
but also lovely.
The nights are moon less,
where has it gone I wonder,
I hope it comes back.
